Course Description
An Introduction to Enamelling

Use this 1-day course as a starting point to learn more about how Vitreous Enamel can add vibrant colour to your jewellery.

You will learn the basic techniques of enamelling, such as preparation of metals, firing enamels, tool use and the blending and layering of a small selection of colours.
With tutor guidance you will use sheet metal to create enamelled samples to provide a future reference for the possibilities of enamelling.
Students may create a few samples using the dry sifted technique before moving onto wet packing methods. Alternatively students may concentrate solely on either dry sifted or wet packing whichever method is preferred.
Enamel is provided but sheet metals are not. This is because Bespoke courses are tailored to suit your requirements therefore you will need to pay the tutor directly for the amount of metal you use for your sample making on the day.
You may also ask the tutor for guidance before the course if you prefer to bring your own sheet metal.

Materials Note
It is recommended that enamelling beginners use sheet copper for sample work.
However you may work in sheet silver if you wish and you advise this in advance of your course.
