About
Mark is an experienced award winning professional designer and artist, specialising in the Jewellery industry. He is a graduate of the School of Jewellery Birmingham University and he has a degree in 3-Dimensional Design.
He trained and worked as an industrial designer specialising in product design, jewellery and silversmithing, including working for major jewellery manufacturer Tony Laws Studio in London.
In 1981 he established his own freelance design practice and consultancy Drawing First, in London, he is now based in Essex.

Mark has over 30 year's experience of teaching drawing and design in schools, and higher education. He has also provided practical training courses for art and design teachers and delivered community drawing events in London, including regular participation in the national Big Draw campaign.
He has been a key lecturer at Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design and a regular visiting lecturer at the School of Jewellery Birmingham University until recently and he also teaches part-time at a Goldsmiths Centre occasionally.
Mark has a particular interest in drawing, he enjoys exploring a contemporary approach in the areas of Jewellery, Silversmithing and Fine Art, in 2013 this led to a an exhibition of his work at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham University entitled Drawing the Line.
