About
Nobuko is an award winning jeweller who graduated from Birmingham City University (BCU) School of Jewellery with BA in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Following her graduation Nobuko was invited to work as an Artist in Residence BCU School of Jewellery and Bilston Art Gallery in where she gained her teaching experience.
Following her participation of Design Space - a business incubation arts scheme for jewellery Makers, Nobuko started her own successful contemporary jewellery business in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter. She has been working in the Jewellery Industry as a Designer and Maker for over 10 years, where she works on private and trade commissions.
Nobuko works in silver and gold and both semi-precious and precious stones, pearls and beads, typically exploring shape, colour and structure for her contemporary designs. Often combining semi precious beads or pearls with silver or gold. She also works in a characteristic style of wax carving for stone setting techniques and thoughtful use of beads and pearls are an integral part of her necklace designs.
Nobuko's jewellery is exhibited and sold in Galleries nationally and she is an active member of design collective's Centre Piece and Design Nation.
