About
Highly experienced Stonesetter John has worked in the Jewellery Trade for over 35 years specialising in Stonesetting and Microsetting in all precious metal types and stone shapes.
Following a 5 year traditional Jewellery apprenticeship in the late 1970’s he has continued working in the trade including for several prestigious Hatton Garden Jewellers such as Garrards, Asprey and Mappin & Webb and Brown & Newirth, before starting his own Stonesetting business in Essex.

John is a Member of the prestigious Institute of Professional Goldsmiths and his wide range of experience includes setting the stones for several high profile clients including setting the stones in one of Princes Diana’s Brooches.
We can’t tell you about the famous people whose Jewellery John has worked on – it’s secret!
John is an experienced Stonesetting and Polishing tutor who teaches in his own trade workshop.

Tutor Course Notes

As Bespoke courses are individually tailored to suit you, castings and stones which are essential for practise are not included in the course fee. This is because you may like to bring your own items and stones to set.

If you prefer to buy stones and silver casting to practise setting direct from the tutor you must make a request IN ADVANCE of your course, so that the tutor can order them for you.

For Gold Plating tuition, you MUST pay the tutor direct for chemicals and solutions you use on the day.
